South Carolina considering law to block bans on plastic bags | The State

The plastic bag industry is safe from assault by heartless environmental groups that wish to deprive honest plastic bag workers from making a decent living just to save a species or two. Plastic bags need litter our highways and pollute our waters, and they contribute to the deaths of a lot of wildlife.

Eric Bedingfield, R-Greenville, and House Speaker Jay Lucas, R-Darlington, introduced legislation this year that would protect the plastic bag industry from cities and counties that want to curb the use of the bags.
